2019 Open Outdoor Play

The Barnstable Pickleball Group's 2019 outdoor season will begin May 24 and run until late October. Recreational play for all levels is available each weekday morning at the tennis courts at Bay Lane in Centerville, across from the Centerville Elementary School.  Participation requires that you have knowledge of the rules, scoring, doubles court position and the ability to serve and rally. No instruction is given during these times, but a court is reserved for novice players.

What is Pickleball

Pickleball is a fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong and is played on a badminton sized court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic ball (similar to a wiffle ball) and wood, composite or graphite paddles, and can be played indoors or outdoors. It is easy for beginners to learn (especially those who have played any racket sports in the past), but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.
